Cover: SAP EWM Master Data Overview

TL;DR
  • SAP EWM master data spans 8 configuration phases — Storage Control and Basic Master (Phases 1–2) are mandatory for all deployment types (B/A/D); Wave Management and MFS are available only for Advanced or Decentralized deployments.
  • Setup order is strictly dependency-driven: Storage Type must exist before Storage Section, Storage Bin, and strategies; Warehouse Product (synced from S/4HANA Material Master) must exist before Fixed Storage Bin, Packaging Specification, and Batch Master.
  • This article provides the map — setup flow, hierarchy, and ER relationships. Field-level configuration details for each object are covered in EWM-A02 onward.
